Swedish Massage uses the power of touch to move clients into a state of total relaxation. Practitioners will locate areas of tension and use different techniques to help these areas relax. Swedish Massage is a combination of long flowing strokes, kneading, and friction on the more superficial layers of muscle tissue.

Benefits of Swedish Massage

Swedish massage feels good, and is relaxing and invigorating. It affects the nerves, muscles, glands and circulation, promoting health and well being. The main purpose of Swedish massage is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles.

Swedish massage shortens recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissues of lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic wastes. It increases circulation without increasing heart load, and stimulates the skin and nervous system. It reduces stress, both emotional and physical, and is recommended in a regular program for stress management. It also has many specific medical uses. All Freedom Massage practitioners have a Swedish based massage, blended with other techniques.

Deep Tissue Massage goes beyond the surface. The practitioner works deep in the muscle fiber to relieve tension. Practitioners may use knuckles and elbows during this session. Communication on pain levels is crucial in order for this modality to work. Deep tissue massage is used to help relieve prolonged stress in the body. This modality is on the specialty list of all the Freedom Massage Practitioners.

Trigger Point Therapy is used to relieve muscular pain and dysfunction through applied pressure to trigger points and through stretching exercises. Trigger points are localized areas of tissue which are sensitive to pain when compressed. Pressure on these points can send referred pain to other specific parts of the body. Through applying pressure to these points, the muscle is temporarily deprived of oxygen. When the pressure is released the tissue becomes flooded with oxygen and nutrients. As the trigger points are deactivated and released, the muscle tissue is able to improve form and function more efficiently. Freedom massage practitioner may blend this modality into your session.

Benefits of Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage can improve posture, increase range of motion in muscles and joints, release tension, reduce stress, reduce or eliminate pain and dysfunction, and increase circulation and oxygenation of tissue. This type of massage may also be indicated for other conditions or injuries not listed here.

Sports Massage is a vital tool for keeping athletes primed for top performance. This form of massage is designed to obtain maximum performance and physical conditioning and has been proven to increase power, endurance, and mobility. Myofascial Release (MFR) is an interactive stretching technique that provides maximum relaxation of tense tissues. Fascia is connective tissue surrounding and penetrating every tissue and organ of the body. Fascia may become adherent or stuck to muscle (myo) tissue resulting in pain and/or dysfunction. Gentle pressure and traction of the body part may create the connective tissue or fascial release when held in a certain position. The practitioner or facilitator determines the direction, force, and duration of the stretch based on feedback from the client’s body. Efficient posture and movement are goals of this treatment. Freedom Massage practitioners do not perform full sessions of Myofascial Release, but do incorporate it into sessions.

Benefits of Myofascial Release

The primary goal of myofascial release is to eliminate fascial restrictions thereby alleviating a wide variety of conditions. This is a therapeutic approach to relief of:

  • neck and back pain
  • fibromyalgia
  • neurological dysfunction
  • chronic pain and headaches
  • scoliosis
  • restricted range of motion

Thai-Yoga Bodywork

Otherwise known as Ancient Massage, or passive yoga, Thai massage is a technique used to give an experience of the total body. It is similar to Shiatsu and acupressure with stretches and yogic Asanas or postures. Thai-Yoga Bodywork is the perfect modality for clients who are looking to achieve greater flexibility and balance. Thai is practiced on a floor mat and the client remains fully clothed. Comfortable clothing is essential, because your body will be pushed to its fullest potential. Your body will fall into a state of ease as your muscles are stretched and compressed. The practitioner and client work together to loosen and strengthen the body as a whole. Yoga practitioners will love this modality, because it will encourage a deeper practice. You will find freedom through assistance and begin to unravel emotions or physical restraints holding you back from your full potential. You will be able to concentrate not only on attaining and maintaining postures, but breathing deeper into yourself through an assisted posture. Thai -Yoga Bodywork is for everyone who truly wants to understand their body and help it unwind.
